Reading Experience: Dasharajna

"Dasharajna" is the third book in Harappa series authored by Shankar N. Kashyap. This is the story based on the main event within the seventh book of Rigveda. It is the story of an epic battle between Sudas of Bharata and Cayamana of Anus leading a confederacy of ten disgruntled Kings. It takes place on the banks of river Ravi. It is also a battle between the two of the most powerful sages of Rigveda. Vasishta and Vishwamitra. Extensive research into the Vedic scriptures and archaeological records have helped create a fascinating insight into the geography of the battle.

It is a battle whose result is paradigm shifting in that the outcome decided the future of the great epics of India - Ramayan and Mahabharata.

The book has a proper preface followed by a proper introduction of the characters and contemporary relevance of the places. In the end, a comprehensive Glossary has been provided which adds more charm to the book.

"Dasharajna - The Battle of Ten Kings" is a power packed book by Mr. Kashyap. It takes the readers on a pre-historic roller-coaster ride full of mysteries and adventure.

The author has spent endless moments doing extensive research and that reflects so aptly in this book. The story and narrative are intriguing, characters are authentic, dialogues are just and the maturity of the story-crafting sums it up all. Right from the amazing plot, the outstanding characters, and the Pre-historic account, to the stupendous narrative and marvelous dialogues, "Dasharajna" breaks all the stereotypes of a Pre-historic fiction making it simply unputdownable. It falls into the category of those books which you don't want to finish that early, instead relishing each and every page slowly becomes compulsory for your demanding brain.

In my personal opinion, I do not consider myself eligible enough to review/rate this book. For me, the book is beyond judgment. I personally believe that "Dasharajna" and the other two books of the Harappa series could prove to be a proud gem in the private collection of History, Pre-History and mythology lovers. The book satiates the reading hunger of both fiction and non-fiction readers providing them a glorious account of Pre-Historic India.

I wish to thank Mr. Shankar N. Kashyap for providing me with an opportunity to read the book and relish his writing. I have already added him in my most favourite authors' list and all his other books would be joining my collection soon.

Sir, keep writing and keep enriching the literary world!

Thank you!
